Join us every Friday night for Kirtan, call-and-response chanting. Each week the kirtan is led by a different person from our Brooklyn chant community, the Vanaras, plus special events with other artists.

Chanting is a way of getting in touch with yourself. It’s an opening of the heart and letting go of the mind and thoughts. It deepens the channel of grace, and it’s a way of being present in the moment.

Ambika

Ambika has been a singer and musician for most of her life, playing in various bands in NYC until she discovered chanting with Krishna Das in 1995. Kirtan had a profound effect on her, and lead her to India where she met her teacher and Spiritual Mother, Shri Siddhi Ma. As Ambika  deepened her connection to the practice of chanting, it became her home and refuge. Recently she has been exploring chants from other faith traditions, working with a program at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine. In February 2015, Ambika released a digital single "Metta Chant", produced and recorded by Devadas Labrecque. Her first full-length album, "Mother's Calling", produced by Lily Cushman, is now available everywhere to purchase or stream. Learn more on her website here.
