BENEFIT CONCERT
Join us at BYS for a special fundraising concert with J Mascis, Devadas, Tony Jarvis, and friends! The evening will include a variety of chanting, kirtan & songs. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Amma’s Embracing the World Charities. Please note there is $25 - $50 tiered ticketing available for this event for those who wish to contribute more to the foundation. See below for complete artist information. ABOUT THE MUSICIANS
J MASCIC is best known as the singer, guitarist and songwriter for the rock band Dinosaur Jr., which was highly influential in the alternative rock movement of the 1990s. In 2012 Spin Magazine listed J #5 in their 100 Most Influential Guitarists of All Time. DEVADAS is a kirtaniya, composer and songwriter hailing from Brooklyn, New York who began singing as a teenager, performing on street corners in his hometown of Portland, Maine . After moving to New York City, he had the good fortune to meet his Guru, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), and under Her inspiration has been leading kirtans at satsangs, yoga studios, meditation centers and temples all over New York, the U.S. and India. In 2013, Devadas released Brooklyn Mellows, a double-cd of traditional Kirtan and also collaborated with J Mascis to score the soundtrack to the feature documentary "One Track Heart: The Story of Krishna Das". http://devadasmusic.com/
