Through postures, breathing, meditation, relaxation, chanting and yogic philosophy anyone can purify (and heal) the body, settle the mind, and open the heart. Classical Yoga is thousands of years old, and yet completely applicable to our modern lives. Through these practices one can cultivate compassion, patience, courage, joy and ultimately: freedom. Happiness is who we are. Yoga simply helps us find it in ourselves. Classes include a Vinyasa portion (a sequence of poses connected through the breath), followed by a series of stationary poses, breathing exercises, deep relaxation, meditation, chanting, and a brief philosophical discourse. Our teachers offer a supportive environment for students (of any kind) to practice at their own pace, without expectation, competition or judgment. BYS offers a concentrated, yet playful practice space to explore the vast potential of who we are.
